About once a decade or so, we get a blizzard. It is a pretty serious winter storm with high winds, cold temps, blinding snow, and lots of accumulation. It pushes the envelop on the typical winter storm.
This blizzard started Friday morning. White-out conditions were reached by late in the afternoon, and the heaviest snow fell in the early morning hours. By Saturday morning, the heavy snow and wind had stopped. The skies dumped 34 inches on us in a 24-hour period. For those of you who use metrics, that’s 86.36 centimeters.
We still haven’t been plowed out yet (4 PM Saturday), so can’t go anywhere. Most of the roads–if plowed–allow only one car. We have to wear snow shoes to walk around. Asta, our Fox Terrier, just loves it. I had to dig a path for him. You can see in the photo that the snow is way bigger than he is! He follows the trail made by the snow shoes.
Hi Dr Gary and Helen, 祝您新年快乐,身体健康,吉祥如意。 Wishing you a Happy Chinese New Year and blessed with good health and fortune! That snow sure looks fun for me who has not experience snow before.
